Carolina Day senior Dalton Conley signs to NAIA baseball
The Carolina Day School community gathered on campus to celebrate NAIA recruit Dalton Conley ’18, who has signed to play baseball with Bryan College in Tennessee.
“Dalton arrived at CDS two years ago, and since then, on a daily basis, he’s gotten up early, departing his home in Transylvania County (NC) to make the long drive to CDS,” said Steve Henry, CDS Director of Athletics. “Dalton has engaged his classmates and teachers, challenging those around him in a way which makes our community collective learning experience stronger.”
CDS baseball coach Ryan Smith spoke of Dalton’s journey to signing with Bryan College. “It was a really good fit from a college standpoint—what they do athletically from a baseball perspective. It was a great fit for him, and that showed when he went there. They were immediately drawn to his talents and what he could do. It’s a testament to his hard work, not just on the baseball field, but his hard work in the classroom, that will prepare him for the next four years and beyond.”
Reflecting on his decision to attend Carolina Day School, and his experiences at CDS, Dalton said, “I believe everything happens for a reason, and I’m incredibly blessed to be at this school.” Addressing the CDS community in attendance at his signing ceremony he added, “I’ve met so many great people, and I love every one of you in here. It’s just an honor to be a part of this community.”
