Grade 8 Builds Solar Cookers for Study of Energy
Posted 03/29/2016 02:39PM

CDS eighth-graders are harnessing the power of the sun to cook hot dogs with solar cookers. It’s the culminating project after the students’ study of energy where they are putting design and engineering to work. Their task is to create a cooker out of cardboard boxes, popsicle sticks, aluminum foil, plastic wrap, masking tape, hot glue, and two other items of their choice (many chose magnifying glass). The goal is to get the core temperature of the hotdog 162 degrees Fahrenheit/71.1 degrees Celsius. ‪#‎CDSlearns‬
