Get to know Carole Hilderbran:
What do you like most about your job at CDS?
I have THE BEST JOB! I get to share all of the challenge, excitement, fun, innovation and engagement happening in the classrooms, on the fields, in the gyms and on the stage at Carolina Day School.
In your opinion, how does the CDS community inspire students to be courageous and curious, wonder about things that they don’t understand, try new things, and develop individual passions?
At CDS, we ensure that every single one of our students gets exactly what he needs...and then we offer even more. Whether it is an individualized, advanced-level math class, assistance with the journey to college athletics, an independent study in a specific area of interest or a leadership opportunity, our default answer when asked by a student “May I try this?” is most often “yes.”
What is your favorite quote about education, mentorship, children, and/or learning?
“Anyone who stops learning is old, whether at twenty or eighty. Anyone who keeps learning stays young. The greatest thing in life is to keep your mind young.” - Henry Ford
What personal passion brings balance to your life?
"I love spending time outside, especially running. On weekdays I run before the sun rises, so no matter what happens all day long, nothing can take that run away from me. On the weekends, I like to hit the trails -- and enjoy the light of day -- for my run."
