The Carolina Day School Wildcat Girls Cross Country team won their second straight Buncombe County Championship on Wednesday, September 6, 2017, with 5 girls placing in the top ten. Olivia Sutter '20 finished second and Erin Hovendon '22 finished third. Sutter, who is ranked in the top seven runners state-wide, was the NCISAA 2A 3200m State Champion and 1600m runner up as a freshman.

With ten returning runners—one among the top seven in North Carolina—the Carolina Day School Wildcat runners are living up to their award-winning legacy this season. Last year, the team ended the season as NCISAA 2A XC State Champions and sixth in the state.
