Key School Research Projects
Posted 12/09/2015 01:45PM

Key School eighth grade students are addressing the problem of fossil fuels versus alternative fuels for their research projects. They have visited an alternative living situation, Earthhaven Ecovillage, to better understand how solar and water can be used to produce electricity. Along with writing a well-researched paper, the students must also develop a project that demonstrate how the alternative energy they are studying works. Some of last year's students created a solar project that powered the Key Middle School's tower garden. This year's students are focusing on solar, wind, and water power. In their Reading Comprehension class they are also reading the memoir “The Boy Who Harnessed the Wind” by William Kamkwamba. This is a true story who brought electricity to his village in Malawi.
