Carolina Day School invites area middle and high school students to apply for its merit scholarship program, now through February 1. There are four categories of competitive merit scholarships. Each scholarship is renewed annually if the student continues to maintain a strong academic record and contribute in positive ways to the school community.
Applicants are considered on the basis of the following:
• Academic record: current GPA of 3.0 or higher
• Carolina Day Scholar and Highlander Scholar applicants must have a GPA 3.33 or higher and standardized test scores above the 90th percentile for national norms on the SSAT, PSAT, ERB, or ISEE
• Demonstrated excellence in extra-curricular areas
• Evidence of strong leadership and character
• Quality of required essays
• Potential to make a significant contribution to the Carolina Day community

The Blair Forman Dismukes Scholarship was established in November 2005 to honor and remember Blair Dismukes. Eligible applicants are Carolina Day School or prospective students currently in grades 8-10 who would bring racial, ethnic, and socio-economic diversity to our student body.
The St. Genevieve - Gibbons Hall Scholarship was established 1995 by alumni in honor of Mother Margaret Potts. Eligible applicants are Carolina Day School or prospective students currently in grades 6-11. Awarded to one student per year.
Carolina Day Scholar awards recognize currently enrolled Carolina Day School students going into grades 8 and 9 who demonstrate exceptional ability and talent in academics as well as in leadership, community service, and extra-curricular areas. Eligible applicants are Carolina Day School students currently in grades 7 and 8.
Highlander Scholar awards recognize extraordinary personal, academic, and leadership potential among applicants who would be new to Carolina Day School’s Upper School division. Eligible applicants are prospective students currently in grades 8-10 who are applying to Carolina Day School for grades 9-11.
For the current school year 2014-15, Carolina Day School merit scholarships reached a combined total of $270,000.
